Lip tints have slowly become one of my favourite makeup categories because I can change the whole mood of a look without doing much else. I usually want something that feels comfortable, adds enough colour to wake up my face and still looks natural when the rest of my makeup is minimal.

These three give me noticeably different finishes, so I choose between them depending on whether I want glow, softness or a stronger pop of colour.

For me, it works particularly well with simple daytime makeup because it adds a little shine and definition while still keeping everything relaxed. It is the kind of tint I would choose when I want my lips to be noticeable, but not necessarily the focus of the whole look.

Soft Velvet Colour

MARS Seven Secrets Velvet Lip Tint gives me a completely different effect. The swatch looks deeper and more muted, with a dusty rose tone that feels softer and slightly more sophisticated. What I like most here is the velvety appearance: it creates colour without the obvious glossy layer of the first tint. I reach for this type of finish when I want my makeup to look a bit more put together but still effortless. The shade also feels easy to pair with neutral eye makeup, so I can wear it without having to think too much about the rest of my look.

Brighter but Still Wearable

Milani Color Fetish Hydrating Lip Stain is my choice when I want more visible colour. Compared with the other two, the swatch looks brighter and more saturated, leaning towards a lively pink-red. I like having this in my collection because it immediately makes a simple makeup look feel more finished. At the same time, the colour still has a fresh quality rather than looking overly formal. I tend to reach for shades like this when my complexion needs a little extra life and I do not want to add more products elsewhere.

My Final Pick

I like keeping all three because they serve different moods rather than competing with one another. One gives me shine, one gives me a softer velvet effect, and one brings the strongest colour. That variety is exactly why lip tints stay in my everyday makeup rotation.
