I’ve been gravitating towards makeup that feels easy to build around rather than products that demand a full face. A good contour, a luminous base and a reliable lip combination can do most of the work for me.

These are the pieces I reach for when I want definition and colour while still keeping the overall result soft and wearable.

Soft Definition

Mascavo Contorno has become the kind of contour product I like using when I want to shape my face without creating anything too dramatic. The compact format keeps things simple, and I prefer applying a little at a time rather than going in heavily from the start. For me, contour works best when it quietly adds structure around the cheekbones and jaw instead of becoming the first thing I notice in the mirror. This is the sort of product I reach for on days when my makeup needs a little more definition but I still want the finish to look natural.

A Base With More Glow

YSL All Hours Glow Foundation immediately caught my attention because I usually prefer a base that leaves some life in the skin. I don’t want foundation to make my complexion look completely flat, especially when the rest of my makeup is fairly minimal. I like using this when I want the skin to look smoother and more polished while still keeping that visible radiance. The finish feels better suited to my current makeup style than an extremely matte base, and I find that it gives me a nice starting point for both contour and softer colour products.

My Easy Lip Pairing

MAC Lipstick and KIKO Milano lip gloss are the combination I reach for when I want lips to feel more finished without turning them into the whole focus of the look. I like starting with the lipstick because it gives me the main colour and shape, then adding the KIKO gloss over the top for extra shine. The bright pink gloss has a noticeably luminous look, so I don’t need much to change the effect of the lipstick underneath. What I enjoy about using the two together is the flexibility: I can keep the lipstick more defined, soften it with the gloss, or apply just a touch in the centre when I want dimension rather than an all-over glossy finish.

For me, these products work because each one handles a different part of the makeup without making the routine feel overdone. I get structure from the contour, glow from the base and an adjustable lip finish depending on how polished I want the final look to feel.
