My Primer Ranking!

· Fashion team
Welcome, Readers! I never used to pay much attention to primer. I thought foundation was the main thing that mattered, but after trying different makeup combinations, I noticed the first layer really affects the final look.
A good primer can make my makeup feel smoother and help everything blend better.
I tried two popular primers, and this is my honest rating based on my own makeup routine.
1. e.l.f. Power Grip Primer — 5/5
The e.l.f. Power Grip Primer quickly became one of my favorite steps before applying makeup. The texture feels unique compared to other primers I’ve used, but once it settles, my foundation applies more nicely. I especially like using it when I know I’ll be wearing makeup for several hours because it helps my base stay looking fresh.
Another thing I enjoy is how my skin looks afterward. My makeup feels more connected instead of sitting separately on top. A full 5/5 from me because this primer actually feels like it does something, not just another extra step.
2. Maybelline Baby Skin Primer — 3.5/5
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer gives me a different experience. It’s simple, easy to apply, and feels lightweight, which I like for quick makeup days. I usually pick this one when I’m not doing a full glam look and just want my skin to feel prepared before foundation.
The reason it didn’t get a higher score is because I personally notice less difference compared to e.l.f. My makeup looks smoother, but the overall effect feels more minimal. Still, it’s a decent option if you’re looking for something basic and beginner-friendly.
After comparing them, e.l.f. Power Grip Primer is the clear winner for me. Maybelline Baby Skin works well when I want something quick and simple, but e.l.f. gives me the extra step that makes my makeup look more polished. I think it really depends on what kind of finish you want.
