This guide gives us practical and detailed information for planning a smooth visit. We focus on real costs, transport options, food, and accommodation so we can travel with confidence and ease.

Opening hours usually are
• Spring to Autumn: Around 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

How to Get There & Transportation Costs
Blausee is located in Kandergrund (Blausee-Mitholz area) in the canton of Bern. It is easy to reach by train, bus, or car.
By Train + Bus:
1. Take a train to Frutigen or Kandersteg from major cities like Bern or Interlaken.
2. From the station, take Bus No. 230 toward Blausee.

Train tickets from Bern to Frutigen usually cost around $16 to $28 one way, depending on class and discount passes. From Frutigen to Blausee, the bus ticket costs roughly $8 to $14 one way.
Travel passes may cover part of the train and bus journey, but they usually do not cover the entrance fee.
By Car:
Driving is convenient if we prefer flexibility. The route is clearly marked with road signs pointing to Blausee. Parking is available near the entrance with a daily fee around $6 to $7.
Best Time to Visit
Blausee looks beautiful in every season, but timing can improve our experience.
- Spring & Early Summer: Fresh green trees surround the blue water. The light is soft, and the environment feels peaceful.
- Autumn: Golden and red leaves reflect on the lake surface. This season offers strong color contrast and great photo opportunities.
- Winter: Snow often covers the forest. The deep blue water stands out against the white landscape, creating a quiet and magical atmosphere.
To avoid crowds, we recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon, especially during peak summer travel months.
Accommodation Options & Pricing
There is a hotel and spa property at Blausee (Hotel & Spa Blausee), offering rooms in the main building as well as suites/forest houses, and hotel guests receive access to the spa and nature park. Staying here allows us to experience the lake early in the morning and in the evening when day visitors leave.
Room prices usually range from
• Standard room: Around $160 to $270 per night
• Lake-view room: Higher price depending on season and availability
Booking in advance is strongly recommended during high season.
Other accommodation options
In Kandersteg and Frutigen, there are guesthouses, small hotels, and holiday apartments. Prices vary:
• Budget guesthouses: Around $90 to $150 per night
• Mid-range hotels: Around $130 to $240 per night
Staying in nearby towns can reduce costs while still keeping travel time short.
Dining Options & Food Prices
Inside the park, there is a restaurant and café where we can enjoy meals with a lake view.
Typical food price range:
• Coffee or tea: $4 to $9
• Soft drinks or water: $4 to $7

Eating at the restaurant offers comfort but costs more than bringing our own food.
