Gentle Morning Foods

Hey friends ☀️
Let's talk about something we often ignore: our stomach in the morning. I used to grab whatever was quick—coffee, a muffin, or nothing at all (oops 🙈). But over time, I realized my stomach was begging for something more gentle and nourishing.
If you've ever felt bloated, uncomfortable, or just "off" after breakfast, I totally get it. So here's what I've learned about what to eat in the morning to truly protect and care for our stomach.

1. Start with something warm 🌤️

Cold breakfasts like smoothies or iced coffee might be trendy, but they're not always the best for your tummy. Warm foods are easier to digest and feel more comforting.
These days, I start my mornings with a warm bowl of oatmeal or a soft-boiled egg with warm rice porridge. Total game-changer for my digestion.

2. Choose soft, easy-to-digest foods 🍚

Think congee, steamed buns, boiled eggs, or soft toast with banana. Hard or dry foods like granola snacks or crispy toast can feel rough on an empty stomach.
My current favorite? Pumpkin porridge with a little almond milk—it's cozy, filling, and super gentle.

3. Avoid spicy or greasy foods 🌶️

I used to love having spicy noodles or heavy fried stuff (hello, leftovers 😅), but I noticed my stomach felt heavy all day. Now, I save those for lunch or dinner. Mornings are for calm, light, and balanced food.

4. Add a bit of protein 🥚

A little protein in the morning keeps me full and helps my stomach feel satisfied. I usually go with a boiled egg or a bit of tofu in soup. Light but still nourishing.

5. Go for gentle drinks ☕

I know we love coffee—but if you're waking up with an empty stomach, coffee alone can be too harsh. I now drink warm water with a slice of lemon or a cup of light herbal tea first, then my coffee a bit later with breakfast.

6. Don't skip breakfast 🙅‍♀️

I've learned the hard way that skipping breakfast makes me more likely to snack on random junk later. Even if it's just a banana and some oats, it's worth it. My stomach stays happy, and I don't crash mid-morning.

My current breakfast rotation 📝

• Pumpkin oat porridge
• Steamed sweet potato + hard-boiled egg
• Banana + warm almond milk
• Rice porridge with soft tofu and spinach
• Toast with mashed avocado (sometimes with a sprinkle of sesame)
